Parks and Recreation in DuPont WA
Our town prides itself on having a bounty of different outdoor activities and places to
play for all ages. Many different clubs and groups come to DuPont, WA just to utilize our
facilities because they know they are all well maintained, clean, and inviting. The
park system with its many slides, swingsets and playground equipment for all ages is just
the tip of the iceberg! You can find many biking trails, basball fields, soccer fields,
running tracks, and basketball courts. If that's not enough for you how about Geocaching
or Nature Spotting?

Chief Leschi Park- West DuPont
(NW Landing - Hoffman Hill)
Located at the top of Hoffman Hill, this enormous park and its expansive grass field makes
it perfect for many soccer games all at once. There is also a larg play structure
and slide for kids, rocks for climbing, a swingset with 4 swings (2 for toddlers), a large
half-court basketball court, plus other site amenities including picnic tables, water
fountains and a bik path that weaves around the park. Note: At this time there is no
bathroom located at this park, but the DuPont Fire Station (red house on the corner) can
meet your emergency needs. |

Clocktower Park- (NW Landing - Palisade Village)
One of the original parks in Norhwest Landing was built at this location which is
centrally located next to our town's Post Office and Visitor Information Center. The
park offers large expanses of grass along with some shaded areas in between. There
are picnic tables located next to the Clocktower and a large play structure for kids to
enjoy. A stage area also compliments this park's amenities and has hookups for
electrical power. It's a great location for an outdoor wedding (ceremony and
reception) or other family event. This park has plenty of parking around it and is
very There are no restroom facilities at this location, however the Visitor Information
Center could be utilized if open.

Community Parks - (NW Landing - Palisade Village)
Spread out in many areas of Palisade Village you will find many small mini-parks.
Some have play structures while other may have nothing more than benches or picnic
tables. These are great little getaway parks local residents enjoy for some local
peace and quiet outdoors, yet close to home. |

DuPont PowderWorks Park - (NW Landing - Yehle
Village)
DuPont's much anticipated and largest community park opened in 2008 complete with three
play structures, including seperate play structures for young toddlers. There are
covered picnic tables, a full size basketball court, baseball/softball field complete with
covered benches. There is also a multi-use field for hosting soccer or football
games. The park also has restroom facilites, lots of paved trails that interconnect
within the park and plenty of parking. Within the site you will find the remains of
the Orr House with some interpretive signage that talks about this farm that once
inhabited the area.
The park is centrally located in DuPont and right across the street from Pioneer Middle
School which has a full size rubberized running track and football field within it.
The combination of what the school offers and this park makes this area the central hub
for all outdoor sports and recreation in DuPont, WA.

Edmond Village Park- (NW Landing - Edmond Village)
This park, located in the shadow of the 1843 Fort Nisqually site and along the bank of the
Sequalitchew Creek, has a wooden play structure, basketball court, and connects with may
local trails in the area. The 1843 Fort Nisqually Interpretive Signs are located
near this park.

Ethel Lumsdon Park- (Historic Village)
One of three parks in the Historic District, this park is located just off of Barksdale
Ave on .Penniman Ave. At this park you will find many swings for both young kids and
toddlers along with rocks for climbing, a tot play structure and a picnic area.
There is also a sand pit for young ones to dig and play in.

Garry Oaks Park- (NW Landing - Hoffman Hill/Yehle)
One of the first parks you will see on your way through Yehle Village located across the
street from the retirement community known as Patriot's Landing you will find this open
and friendly park. There is a large play structure with slides along with numerous
picnic tables to enjoy an afternoon picnic. Adjacent to the park is a large turf
area ideal for small soccer or football games, or maybe some frisbee throwing! The
park connects with McNeil Street Trail and is only a blocks away from DuPont Powderworks
Park.

Iafrati Park- (Historic Village)
The first park as you enter into the Historic District of DuPont. This park is made
up of portions of land which has flower beds, picnic tables and a large open turf area.
You will also find a monument to the Nisqually School District here.

Jensen Ave Park (NW Landing - Yehle Village)
Another park located along McNeil Street that connect with the McNeil Street Trail from
Garry Oaks Park. This park offers a large play structure, a jungle gym, picnic
tables and well landscaped beds. If you are walking or biking along McNeil Street,
this park makes an excellent stop before tackling the trails located in Hoffman Hill. |

Robinson Park- (Historic Village)
Adjacent to the DuPont Historic Museum on Barksdale Ave, this park with its
gazebo, open turf area, and shaded trees makes for a quite spot to sit back and enjoy a
good book. Located in this park are DuPont's historic dynamite trains which are
currently in development for refurbishing.

Ross Park (NW Landing - Commercial District)
In the heart of DuPont Station lies Ross Plaza, named for local resident Wilbur Ross who
received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Ross Plaza is host for many town events
during the year including Movies in the Park, Fire Safety Day, DuPont Music Festival,
DuPont Holiday Tree Lighting and many other events. The park has picnic tables,
landscaped beds and lots of benches to sit and relax. The open space of the park is
also ideal for frisbee, soccer and on windy days makes a great place to fly a kite!
If you work in DuPont Station, Ross Plaza makes a great place to stretch out on lunch
breaks or enjoy a light snack from one of the many restaurants close by.

Sellers Park (Historic Village)
Another large park in town, but this one is tucked back behind the DuPont Presbyterian
Church on Barksdale Ave. Large grass areas in this park are great for large picnics,
which can be hosted in the wooden picnic shelter (water spigot and electricity too!).
There is also a large play structure with slides, a basketball court, volleyball
court, and horseshoe pit. On the South side of the park you can connect to the trail
system. There is parking within the park grounds, but be careful if it is muddy.

Tract "I" Park - (NW Landing
- Hoffman Hill)
A large hilltop park with a turf open area nestled up against a large greenbelt.
There is picnic tables and benches available for relaxing and a water fountain for filling
your water bottles before taking off on the trails that connect near this park.
