DuPont WA Homes May Be Affected By Sprinkler Head Recall
Sprinkler Head Recall - Update
August 17, 2007
DuPont, WA – In July 2001, Central Sprinkler Company in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall to replace 65 different models of Central type sprinkler heads using O-Ring type water seals. These recalled heads cause corrosion, leaking, and may fail to activate during a fire. The recall claim forms and supplemental information must be completed and submitted by August 31, 2007 to the Central Sprinkler Company.
Within the City of DuPont, homes built by prior to 2001 may contain the recalled sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads can be self-inspected and identified in order to complete the recall process.
If you are not able to identify the recalled heads, please schedule an inspection of your home with Fire Prevention Specialist Jenny Sharp by calling (253) 255-6025 or via email at jsharp@ci.dupont.wa.us. Appointments will be scheduled beginning Monday, August 20, 2007.
Join the City of DuPont Fire Department on Monday, August 27th at 7pm for an informational session at Chloe Clark Elementary, located at 1700 Palisade Blvd. This session will cover the information you will need to submit the claim packet correctly, questions residents may have about the recall process, and any other general questions.
Residents will need to go to www.sprinklerreplacement.com
and print the claim packet. On the home page, click on "How Do I Participate"
then click on "New Claimant".
The claimant packet should be printed and available prior to the
City of DuPont Fire Department arrival. Residents will also need to take two
pictures of each model of recalled sprinkler head in their home to submit with the packet.
The City of DuPont Fire Department would like to remind residents to read the packet
carefully, as it is very detailed.
